Out of Sight, Built Into the Plan: A Solar Install on a New Construction Home
When building a new home, every detail matters—from the layout and finishes to the views surrounding the property. For this homeowner, there was one more important detail to consider: solar.
They wanted the benefits of solar energy without having a traditional solar array become part of the view from their new home. Instead of placing the panels on the house, we developed a solution that kept the system productive while allowing the home's design and surrounding landscape to take center stage.
A Solar Array With a Different Perspective
The property featured a beautiful barn positioned in front of the new home, creating an ideal opportunity for a less visible solar installation. By placing the solar array on the back side of the barn, we were able to provide the homeowner with solar power while keeping the panels out of sight from the home.

This approach allowed us to integrate solar into the property without compromising the look and feel Tim and Julie envisioned for their new construction.
Building the Electrical Infrastructure
Because this was a new construction project, the electrical infrastructure required just as much planning as the solar installation itself.
To accommodate the home's electrical demands and the addition of solar, we worked with PPL to upgrade the property's transformer and provide 400-amp electrical service to the home.
We also handled the necessary trenching and underground electrical work to connect the system and integrate it into the property. From the initial planning to the final installation, each part of the project had to work together seamlessly.
Projects like this are a great reminder that solar installation isn't simply about putting panels on a roof. Especially with new construction, factors such as the property's layout, electrical infrastructure, utility requirements, future energy needs, and the homeowner's vision all play an important role.

The end result is a solar system that does exactly what it was designed to do—generate clean energy while fitting naturally into the property.
The homeowners didn't want their solar panels to dominate the view from their new home, so we found a way to make solar work with the property rather than changing its aesthetic.
From the new construction electrical service and 400-amp PPL transformer upgrade to the trenching and strategically placed solar array on the back of the barn, every part of this project was planned with the bigger picture in mind.
